This time last year I was an emotional wreck. I was miserable and trying desperately to find the Christmas spirit for the sake of Princess. I was being sick constantly and commuting into London daily was starting to take its toll on me physically and mentally, though I don’t think I’d admitted it to myself at this stage! Fast forward a year and so much has improved. I’m getting ready to celebrate our first Christmas in our new house. Our first Christmas as a family of four. That baby that was filling me with sickness last year is 8 months old today!
I think the last time I spoke about baby Bob, she’d started weaning. She’s now standing up and walking along furniture. She’s cut two teeth. She’s learnt to use those teeth to terrorise the family with sneaky bites. She’s a real character with enough spunk for two kids. It’s so crazy how much she’s taught us to adapt and how different our family feels since she arrived.

Food
I’ve written about her weaning journey here and here. But if you want a quick gist, Bob is going down the baby led weaning journey. We don’t feed her purees, just regular food, cut into manageable sizes. She loves toast, croissants, strawberries, avocados, sweet potatoes, boiled plantains and so much more.
Toys
Anything she isn’t supposed to have becomes her favourite toy. My phone is her current favourite and it’s paid the price. As much as the Samsung S7 Edge is supposed to be waterproof, I don’t think they tested it against baby slobber!

We’re trying to get her interested in more traditional toys. Princess has a beautiful John Lewis wooden kitchen from her second Christmas. It lives in a spare bedroom at my parents but I’m thinking about using Shiply to courier it over to us as it’s too big and bulky to fit in the car without dismantling. They’re great for finding couriers for products larger than parcel size. I can’t wait to see the lovely role play activities the kitchen creates for both girls to play together. Princess always insisted on the kitchen being her restaurant, I wonder if Bob will be the same?
Personality

I’ve heard that younger siblings are always a bit more outgoing than first borns. I didn’t give it much thought but it seems to be the case. Bob is very vocal in her needs! She’s out for everything and lets you know exactly what it is she wants, WHEN she wants it. Yesterday she started crawling. She’s been commando style crawling for some time now and walking along furniture. But yesterday, out of the blue she seemed to decide enough is enough and just started crawling. FAST! Then, pleased with her new accomplishment she tried to stand up. She did, but fell down and banged her head seconds later. But hey, that’s Bob for you through and through.
It’s Christmas so this is a short and sweet post. My house is a mess. I’ve a dead hamster to replace tonight. There’s a post in there somewhere I’m sure…. So much to do and so little time. If I don’t post again before Christmas, I wish you a very wonderful day and a happy Christmas period, period!

Whats been your favorite milestone Baby Bob has accomplished?
Argh I thought I’d responded and realised I never hit send! Thanks for your comment. Hmm my favourite milestone must have been her saying dada, to her dad, with a wave! It was magical!
