Trying to find good hairdressers for natural hair, even in London can be a bit hit and miss. Finding a hairdreser that understands how to expertly and kindly handle our natural afro hair can make or break our relationship with our hair, the way we identify and ultimately be the difference between a killer look and looking like road kill. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of bad salon experiences with stylists that had no place near a flat iron or pair of scissors!
I tweeted my need for a hairdresser for dreadlocks in London that could start me on my dreadlock journey and was inundated with replies. There are a wealth of black hairdressers in London so if you know of any more I should add to my list of recommended hair salons, feel free to let me know.
I haven’t used all of these salons personally at the time of posting but some of the responses came from people who have or know those who do. Of course, still do your research, look at reviews if possible or give them a call and see if it feels right to you. Everyone’s hair is different and what works for one may not work for the other, you need a hairdresser that will treat you individually and not use a one way fits all approach.
