Wreck it Ralph is a great family film on par with the likes of Shrek and Toy Story. Cleverly written and bringing back a host of old school gaming classics, this film is just as enticing to adults as it is for the children they are bringing to the cinema alongside them. The storyline sees Wreck-It-Ralph, the resident ‘bad guy’ of his game, try to break free from his bad guy persona and knock his nemesis, Fix-it-Felix off top hero spot and snag his own medal.
Classic arcade games such as Pacman are brought to the big screen and whilst my four year old was unaware of many of the more ‘vintage’ games represented, the characters are brought to life in such an amazing way that it didn’t matter. Full of colour, humour and action the film was a hit for our family though there were some World of Warcraft / Call of Duty type characters, complete with high definition illustrations which unsettled the children.
As a whole, the storyline was great and had enough twists and turns to keep us all guessing. Ralph was possibly the most loveable ‘baddie’ and makes me think twice about the once hated Dr Robotnic from my youth. I’d say that if your child is sensitive, this may not be the film for them, but would say age 7 and above ‘s would love it! I liked the movie very much. Felix and Ralph were hilarious!
