You know what the cure to a heavy couple of weeks is? An unexpected gift, that’s what. One that you completely did not see coming. It warms the soul and reminds you that at their core, people are for the most part good. Sometimes it’s super important to be reminded of that fact. I needed to be reminded of that after feeling particularly low recently.
After spending an unproductive day stuck in the house feeling poorly, I opened up Instagram to see I had a message waiting for me. This message was from talented mum of four, @carolynes_wonderings and contained a photo of Baby Bob, my younger daughter. I’d posted a photo of her earlier on in the month and Carolyne had decided to draw it. I was blown away.
Now I don’t think Carolyne had any idea how much this would mean to me. Why would she? I’ve been dead quiet on social media and haven’t shared the stress (literally and figuratively) that is plaguing me at the moment, although I alluded to it on one post. I thanked her and shared the photo on my Instagram and Facebook accounts but needed to put it here too. I need to have it easily accessible for prosperity, mostly, selfishly, for me, but also because I want it to reach a larger audience. Carolyne is a talented creative and I hope more and more people are able to appreciate her craft.
I’ve included one of my favourite posts on her feed, but honestly, there are so many to choose from. I only wish I didn’t draw like a toddler hopped up on Wagon Wheels. Like, I’d love to be able to capture people the way she does, but I guess, in some ways I do, just through a lens instead!
