daddy's little girl

You’d never have thought my daughter would end up to be such a Daddy’s girl when she was a baby. This child hated men, her Daddy included. She’d start screaming if he were the one who tried to comfort her in her cot in the middle of the night, screaming louder and with indignation until he gave up and called for me instead.

Those days were tough on us all. It was hard for The King not to take it personally, but in reality, it wasn’t. Princess just wasn’t interested unless you had the potential to feed her. She was breastfed and clocked on pretty early that men’s boobage just wouldn’t do!

Fast forward to the toddler years and a distinct bond formed. Funnily enough it coincided with her being able to eat and drink without the need of breast milk. Suddenly I wasn’t needed as much and she naturally gravitated to her papa. Princess would spend ages sat on the King’s lap, playing video games with him. He’d be on a real controller and the bubba used a dead one. Even so, she’d excitedly point to the screen and snuggle up under her Dad’s arm, content to be in his company.

The older she’s gotten the more inseparable they’ve become. Daddy’s girl not only looks like him but has his temperament and his quirks. Neither are any good at sarcasm, which is amusing as I live for it. Both love Marvel and DC comics and films. They’re both ace with video games whereas I have ten thumbs. They’ve gone to Playstation events together and the older they get the more shared passions they gain.

itty bittys from Hallmark

Just before Christmas, we were sent these sweet Itty Bittys characters.  I don’t know who was more excited out of the two of them. I think Iron Man is their favourite Itty Bitty. Mine is the Spider Man. I’m thinking it might be a nice treat to slowly build up their collection for them. Maybe Batman and Wonder Woman next?!

They’ve decided to share them so now they’ve taken prime territory on my bookshelves. Part of me thinks it should be for books and photos only but I admit, it makes me grin when I look up at them.

Princess and The King enjoy winding me up and will conspire in little plots. I try to be mad but in reality my heart’s bursting. It’s so lovely to see their bond on show, even if it’s at my cost. I can take a bit of winding up, as long as they leave me alone when I death stare them!

Princess has already decided that the new baby will be ‘my baby’ as she’s her Daddy’s. I can live with that! She’s still my Princess.
