pretty in pink baby

I’ve always been very keen on the idea of growing our family through adopting, but as far as carrying another baby myself, I knew it was both very unlikely to happen from a medical perspective and also not something I wasn’t keen on doing. My first pregnancy was hard going with constant morning sickness until the day my waters broke! Plus, as I said, I’ve always wanted to adopt.

But you know what? You make plans and God laughs.

A few months ago we found out the rather unexpected but very exciting news that our family will be growing by one! (We only got confirmation that it is, in fact, one baby causing me so much sickness this week!) I suffer from PCOS and this year have had the grand old total of TWO periods, which is two more than the year before. So, from a medical perspective alone, having more kids was a bit of a long shot. I was told at 18 that I can’t have babies without medical intervention as my egg count was so disastrously low. But as Princess proved, and now Bob, unlikely isn’t the same as impossible!

So Bob won’t be the baby’s name. At least I very much doubt it, but I didn’t like saying ‘the baby’ all the time and don’t like calling Bob ‘it’ either. So we call him/her Bob and Princess calls him Banana, though I’m not sure why she chose a fruit.

I’ve got loads of mixed feelings about pregnancy, not least because I feel so sick all the time. It takes so much energy just to get through the day and operate somewhat normally. I’m excited but very scared. I feel so old compared to the last time I went through this and wonder how 30 something year old me will cope. Yes I know that the majority of women now wait for their 30s to start a family but that was never me.

I didn’t start blogging until Princess was a toddler. It’s quite exciting to think I’ll be able to log my journey on CircusMums this time round! Though I’m sure some of the posts will never make it online, it’ll still be really therapeutic just to sit down at the keyboard and journal it out. Even being able to read other family’s journeys has proven useful. Again, I didn’t know about blogging the last time round so it’s great having this wonderful online community to tap into this time round.

I’m not due until May 2017 which seems an age away at the moment but I’m sure will fly by! I’ll share more I’m sure, so watch this space xx
