I am now a member of English Heritage and the National Trust. Goodness I feel all grown up and responsible. The benefits of membership is too good to miss though. If you go to just a couple of sites per year, you are quids in, plus there are special events and discounts for members so it makes sense to sign up and save.
Home Farm is a short walk from Wimpole Hall and is part of Wimpole Estate. As we signed up for full National Trust membership onsite that morning, we were gifted free entry into the farm, usually an extra £4 adults and £2.50 kids. The farm is a modern working farm. There were cows, pigs, bees, sheep, goats, shire horses, geese and donkeys on site.
There was a dodgy moment when one of the cows mounted another and all the parents tactfully diverted their kids’attention to super interesting things in the opposite direction. The pigs were also at it too. If you hadn’t explained the birds and the bees to your kids yet, you’d have had to do it that day!

There are so many things for the kids to get stuck into, including brushing the donkeys, learning how to milk a cow, craft activities and such. With plenty of staff on site to provide information on the animals we learnt tonnes and had an amazing experience.
There were a few lambs, piglets and kids (baby goats, not children) on site but the majority are not expected until later in the Spring. There is a full timetable on the National Trust website of what is available all year round so it’s worth a look before planning a visit.

This looks fab! We haven’t visited any National Trust properties for a while but I’m planning to join once the Little Man is over his ‘destroy everything’ stage and can be trusted to roam around without causing too much havoc. Lovely review of what looks like a great day out. Thanks so much for linking this up at #sharethejoy x
