Taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, Afro Hair and Beauty Live 2019 is back at the Business Design Centre 52 Upper Street Islington London N1 0QH. Featuring a huge range of products, hairdressers, panels and live demonstrations, the two day event is targeted specifically at people of colour.

Many years ago, when I was younger, my disposable income greater and the Afro Hair and Beauty was based in Alexandra Palace, this would be an event I wouldn’t dare miss. I would watch the shows intently, learning new ways to care for my hair. I would stock up on hair products, people watch and admire the women walking past with their hair in so many different styles. I’ve not been to Afro Hair and Beauty in over a decade, maybe even longer, so I’m very excited to see it this year with completely fresh eyes.

I’ve learned a lot over the years on how to care for my hair and my daughter’s crowns too. Thankfully, social media and blogs have made access to information and inspiration so much easier. Actual physical events including the infamous Afro Hair and Beauty Live are still a priceless part of the culture. Being able to meet with brands in person, to network and meet like-minded people is imperative.
