I’ve driven past Banyers House for years now and never had a reason to go inside. A hotel, pub and restaurant situated in the heart of Royston, Hertfordshire, Banyers House is a grand looking Grade II listed Georgian building. Well maintained from the outside, the recently refurbished (Winter 2016) still surprised me to see how well decorated it was inside. A lot of time attention to detail throughout the areas I ventured.
I was looking for an alternative to working from my house. I work in London part of the week and from my house for the remainder. But sometimes I crave a bit of noise and a few humans in the background whilst I work. My local residents Facebook group had some lovely co-working solutions, Banyers House was one such recommendation.

Fairly empty at 11am in the morning, when I entered, the staff smiled politely and left me to it. I found a nice spot in a well-appointed drawing room, logged into the free wi-fi and got on with a busy work session. People came and went, seemingly using the room as a meeting point before going on into the main, larger restaurant area for their meals.

I worked in the lounge for a few hours before stopping for a drink and a bite to eat. Ordering off of the daily specials, I chose a roast pork belly dish. It was beautifully presented, though I thought a little pricey for what it was. I’d say it’s more of a treat meal than something that would become a weekly occurrence. That’s my overall impression of Banyer’s House. Definitely worth visiting if you’re after something special. Great for a treat but maybe not the right atmosphere for your regular. It’s somewhere I’d choose to meet with friends and family for a few drinks or an afternoon tea.

I’d definitely come back to Banyers House. My experience overall was nothing if not positive. Have you been to stay the night or dine here? I’d love to hear how you found the experience
