pizza on blue plate

So the sun came out, went back in again, came out, went back in again.. for most of the day. We woke up to glorious rays of sunshine blinding me through the curtains and first thing the Mini Me wants to do is go for a bike ride!? Like huh? I didn’t mention that The King and I had been on a ‘date night’ and I’d literally crawled into bed only a few hours ago, instead I plastered on one of those fake it till you make it super excited expressions, grabbed a hair brush, threw on some clothes and headed outside. On our bikes. At 8am. Bleaurgh.

After an epic bike ride round and round the block, we headed back indoors, spent a couple of hours with the hubby and did the usual Saturday gymnastics/ Sainsburys routine. When I was in Sainsburys it must have been one of those moments when the clouds had dispersed and it was boiling hot, or maybe seeing all of the outdoor furniture by the entrance suckered me, but I decided to buy stuff for an outdoor lunch, including lemons and limes for homemade lemonade. We faffed around with the Phillips juicer, sprayed the walls with carbonated water and ended up feeding half of the pizza to the dog, but all in all, it was one of those magical, simple days that will stay in my memory and make the weekdays go faster.

  • 4 lemons (we took the peel off)
  • 1 lime
  • 750ml carbonated water (still is fine!)
  • a few handfuls of ice
  • optional, but you can melt a couple tablespoons of sugar dissolved in hot water, to taste.

Juice lemons and lime on lowest setting of your juicer, or squeeze on a citrus press. Add sugar solution to citrus juice. pour your juiced lemons and limes into a large jug filled with ice. Add carbonated water and stir. Enjoy!
