We are well and truly into 2019 people! Every year, as I get older, and perhaps my short term memory starts to fail me, it feels like time goes by that much quicker. It’s not me who feels that way right? I mean, I had so many grand plans photography wise as well as with life in general. Time, lack of a plan and some surprises thrown in for good measure, meant I didn’t accomplish nearly as much as I wanted with my photography this year. Also, there was a severe case of imposter syndrome, which thankfully, my good friend and coach extraordinaire, Michelle, managed to kick out of me. I didn’t think people would see me as ‘good enough’ so I decided to stop before I started. No more of that bullshit in 2019 though, I’m telling you.

I haven’t taken anywhere near as many photos in 2018 as I did in previous years. That was evident when I looked through my SD cards, normally I’d have had to buy more and spend a lot of time exporting things to my external drive, but not this time. That only spurs me on for the year ahead though.

My favourite photos for 2018 are ones that have drawn an emotional reaction from me when I scrolled back through them. This year, I hope to capture more family moments, but also to branch out and work. I’d love to capture other people’s stories, give people photos they can be proud of and want to share, both on their walls and socially. So influencers, Stormzy (er yeah life goals, would LOVE to take his portrait, I can’t lie), social media influencers, get in touch

These two! Just ah my ovaries! Bob and Saf were at an age where the most of the time, they didn’t really even acknowledge each other’s existence. Both girls were a bit clingy and much more interested in being with their respective mums. This was one of the rare occasions when they gave each other some undivided attention. This photo of the two girls gives me all the feels.

Bob February 2018

One of the first times I played with directional light. This was such a random one, we’d just come in after a day of shopping and there was a shard of light coming through the curtains. I quickly ran in front of her and captured this. I think it’s one of my favourites of Bob full stop, let alone of the year!

Qiqi, Cornwall August 2018

Qiqi. Now she is such a character! This isn’t technically perfect, it’s out of focus but I don’t care. All I see when I look at this photo is a flood of childhood memories. She just screams happiness. It’s a look of a childhood well lived.

Cable, December 2018

Honestly, this puppy though! He’s both super cute and super infuriating. He finds new and unique ways to surprise me every day. I see all of these lovely photos of dogs online and I have to find out how they keep their puppies still! Mine, unless he’s sleeping, seems to fidget like a toddler. This is one of the rare photos of him!
