Dinner Parties in Small Homes

So you may have guessed by the lack of involvement on the blog from The King, that I am the more extrovert out of the two of us. I enjoy writing about our journey through life, finding new places to visit and generally socialising, where as my other half would probably much prefer to chill out indoors with just the three of us. Thankfully he loves me enough to find some middle ground, which tends to be in the form of dinner parties. He gets to stay indoors, within his comfort zone and I get to socialise with family and friends. We are both passionate about food so it’s also a chance to test out new recipes and expand our repertoire.

The only problem is that where we live doesn’t have masses of space so we always look for clever solutions to make everything as hospitable as possible. In the summer, it usually meant barbeques so we could spread out and be very relaxed about seating and table space. Now it’s getting colder, I really like the look of the expandable tables in this IKEA clip. It means we can literally turn our home into an informal supper club and seat all of our guests easily and then go back into home mode in the blink of an eye. The wardrobe in the hall way is also a genius solution to the problem of housing everyone’s coats in a uniform and fashionable way, I’d not thought of using the IKEA storage solutions in that way but it makes sense when you think about it.

Are you a sociable bunch? What do you think about the storage solutions in the video? I wasn’t too keen on the drawing area in the kitchen but the rest of them I’d love to implement if given half the chance!

Fantastic post! And I have to say that its providence that I see it now :0) We are house hunting and found something that has grabbed our interest. If all goes well, IKEA will be one of our neighbours and we will be visiting often to make our house a home. For certain we need storage ideas like what was shown in this video to start and bedrooms etc. Thanks for this!!
