We don’t ‘do’ Valentines in my house. Or more so, The King doesn’t really ‘do Valentines day as he uses the age old excuse thrown down from generation to generation of males “Baby, I love you everyday, I don’t need some commercialised holiday to show you how much you mean to me”. Oh sound familiar? I don’t mind much because he’s right, he does show me if and when he wants to, as opposed to modern conventions dictating to him when he should. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with a small token of affection on the day anyway…
I saw these beauties at a Swizzels Matlow event last weekend. Vintage Style tins filled with Mini Love Hearts. Whether you’re 5 or 55, nothing says “I love you” like a retro Love Heart. With only 100,000 of these tins being produced they are technically a collectors item in the making, so hubby if you see this post, please feel free to buy me a tin or two, after all my darling it is an investment!
The picture of the tins was snapped at an event introducing a group of parents and their very excited children to a new sweet range called Squashies, which took a new twist on old classics that 80′s babies like myself remembered fondly. Love Hearts, Refreshers, Drumsticks and Double Lollies, all in a squashy gum format, made with no artificial colours. The gummy, fruity sweets were a huge hit with kids as well as the parents who remembered the old school, originals.
Not one to be stuck in the past, Squashies even has its own game, available to download onto Apple and Android devices. You can Visit your itunes store or download at www.squashiesworld.com. It is addictive in that Angry Birds kind of way, I can see it becoming a must have on the work commute or to entertain the children for a few minutes on a car journey!
Thinking about it, if I don’t get the vintage tins for Valentines, a normal packet of Love Hearts would suffice, nothing like taking it back to the playground!
