Must Move Crew Danceathon

You may remember me barking on about how excited I was about helping the ever charming Thelma of After9fitness start up her new initiative, the Must Move Crew… Well the event we’d been building up to finally came to fruition!

People from near and far came down to North London to teach and to dance. The atmosphere was electric and regardless of whether they were a Zumba, Azonto, or Bokwa fan, they were all really enthusiastic about giving all the different styles a go and showing support for their fellow instructors and fitness enthusiasts!

I tried out a little bit of each style but was running around ‘keeping an eye on proceedings’ (read: trying not to get too sweaty looking!). Thelma put on an amazing day and after doing Zumba with Sophia and Natasha I’d love to give it a go on a regular basis, now that’s something I never thought I’d have said!

Kwaku out us all through our Azonto paces and I enjoyed it enough to brave going to the front of the class and trying to bust a move… Supposedly there’s video proof of my efforts out there, I may just post it at a later date….

Majek came down with his crew and taught us all about Bokwa, which until Must Move Crew, I’d never even heard of! it’s all about dancing to the letters so as long as you know your alphabet you can eventually get the hang of the moves. The way the crew twisted and jumped was such a work out, if they taught the alphabet like that it would be the end of childhood obesity.

All in all, it was great raising money for a good cause (The British Heart Foundation) and burning up some calories in the process. the people I met were all awesome and well worth sweating out my makeup for! I really enjoyed playing social media Queen and helping out with the website, Tweets and Facebook posts, so a massive thank you to Thelma for trusting me with her baby project and also a huge shout out to Ingrid from Candid Creativity who took all the awesome photos I’m pimping out in this post!

Wow this looks like a wonderful event. I love dancing. The last time I attended it class it was for street dancing with Life Long Learning, in my late twenties. my pants ripped during a funky groove, lol . Since then I’ve dropped into the odd class for a session or two and still my toddler laughs when he sees me dance :0)

Dancing is amazing way to get fit and have fun.

Next time we hold a big dance session you have to come and show me your moves, hopefully there won’t be any trouser splitting though!!
