The Gift of Words

I was having a mini meltdown over what to buy for The King and wrote about it on the blog a little while ago. You see, I’ve been with The King for a little over a decade and each year the gifts got bigger and bigger but recently our expendable incomes have decreased so not only did I have as much money to play with but I feared the meaning and though behind the gifts were being lost.

Mel Fargo, owner of The Gift of Words, read my post and offered her services. She runs an amazing company which provides a unique service. You choose your special words, poem, vows etc and they print them on silver leaf embossed white card and present them within a silver leaf or wooden box. I’ve had the site bookmarked for months, waiting for something special enough to warrant buying it, like say holding my wedding vows (blatant hint for the other half) but when Mel suggested it would make a great birthday present I put my thinking hat on and started to pen words of love and wisdom to bless the pretty paper.

The process of ordering and choosing my words was really good and pain free. I found the Gift of Words site easy to work my way around and soon I had chosen my box, sent my words and worked my way through the payment options. If you are not sure what to write, that’s fine as they will help you with your prose, you can choose to jot down ideas about what you want to say and let them draft it for you. I received a few proofs via email showing me what my words would look like and was given the opportunity to make any necessary changes.

I went for the new wooden box, which is handmade from red cedar wood and smelled amazing. I admit to stroking it for ages and having to give it a bit of a polish before handing it over to The King on his birthday. The quality of the box was beautiful and I expect it to be in The Kings’ secret keep-safe place for decades to come. It looks very lush, sorry it may not be the most descriptive and grown up word but it just fits, trust me. It’s the kind of box that will last a life time and feels special.

The King was blown away with the words inside (which I wont share with you I’m sorry!!) and said the box was really manly. He was extremely touched and I was over the moon that he liked his gift. I think I’ll still buy more Gift of Words products for other special occasions, they would make good retirement, weddings, new baby or graduation gifts so it will stay bookmarked on my trusty MacBook for a long while to come.
