Tax Credits are the thorn in my side

Once again the HMRC Tax Credits have deemed it necessary to shaft me! Last time it was blamed on the change of laws and legislation when the new governemnt came in -halving the amount we received towards childcare, this time it was due to my earnings being more than they had thought it would be which is super confusing seeing as I always updated the Tax Credit people within days of any changes just so there would never be any random, inconvenient falls in what we recieved. Oh well, that helped didn’t it?

So once again I find myself with halved tax credits, which they cut before even bothering to send me notice of the cut!? What is this about!? If they were increasing what I was getting they’d drag their feet but because it is them clawing back taxes they do it at a drop of a hat?!? Oh well, it’s getting to the point where staying at home and finding some form of self employment that would allow me to not need to rely on any form of childcare is becoming more and more like the only option open to me. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, though at the moment I’ve been trying to build up enough experience to be able to strike out on my own succesfully, now it seems as if economical pressures will push me into it earlier than I’d ever thought.

Whichever ministers decide on the rules and thresholds for child tax and working tax credits, you have it all wrong. For those who are not wealthy but not quite broke either, you know the working class… the people that make up the majority of this country’s population? Yes us! You are squeezing us tighter and tighter each year. We have nothing left to give! We want to provide for our children and support ourselves on our own salaries, we want to contribute to society and the British economy but all you do is make this harder and harder for us.

Why should we stay here and suffer? We’ve gone from Waitrose to Sainburys, from cars to public transport, what do you want us to do next?

Grrr. Ok rant over.
