We headed off to Leicester Square quite early in the morning for the preview screening of Ice Age 4, Continental Drift in 3D. There was a mini melt down when we realised there were no popcorn machines on that early in the morning but that was swiftly diverted with a handful of pastries and some cool balloon animals.
Ice Age 4 Continental Drift was really good. I’m a fan of all the other Ice Age movies so already had a positive view before going into the movie theatre. The voice cast is impressive yet again, Queen Latifah, Ray Romano, Aubrey Graham (Drake), Nicki Minaj, Keke Palmer and Jennifer Lopez to name but a few! The story line is great, I’ve attached a trailer below, what I like about it is it allows me to bring up topics such a global warming and extinct animals, all of which Princess finds really interesting. She learns and finds it entertaining all in one go.
It’s great how the film appeals to all ages, there are messages subtly built into the storyline that only adults will understand the significance of, but at the same time there are so many small jokes that may seem insignificant to us but sent the children in the cinema rolling off their seats with laughter! Definately a thumbs up for this family!
The minute we finished watching she asked if we could see it again. Ice Age 4 comes out on Friday 13th July so we’ll probably be back down to the cinema on the Saturday, though possibly the 2D version as Princess doesn’t leave the glasses on for more than half a film anyway! The 3D effects were nice but I think it didn’t add so much to the experience that it would warrant going out of your way for the 3D screenings. Well timed for the summer holidays, this should be a definite on our summer calenders as a way to entertain the children and us in one go!
