Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park

We are fortunate enough to have some amazing friends living in Scotland whom we’ve been lucky enough to visit a couple of times now. On this latest visit, we drove into Stirling to spend the day at the Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park, located in Stirling. I cannot begin to stress how amazing this place was but oh well, I’m going to try anyway! Less than half an hour from Edinburgh and I believe a similar distance from Glasgow too, this is definately worth a visiting on a day out in Scotland if you are up for a holiday or city break.

We started our trip with a drive through the animal reserve, windows up, doors locked and camera flashes off, we crept through lion enclosures, bison, ostriches and deer. The enclosures were massive and the cars formed a silent caravan through them allowing us to take photos of these amazing exotic animals with literally only a matter of feet and a pane of glass between us! There are also raised platforms from which you can view many of the wild animals on foot. This allowed us great views of the giraffes and actually put us at eye level which was out of this world.

There are also many areas to explore on foot, the bears were amazing to watch as were the meerkats and otters. We fed animals within the pet farm, watched the awesomely talented sea lions and birds of prey perform in their shows, picnicked in the grounds and stopped for coffees. Princess had fun in the adventure playground, which truth be told, she’d have been happy to have spent the entire day in. We ‘grown ups’ even gave the wooden fort a go as well as the sunken ship.

The fair ground area was very reasonably priced and we actually ended up going home with loads of spare tokens. Princess enjoyed the bouncy castle, mini roller coaster, carousel and tea cup rides. We also used the Blair Drummond tokens to purchase animal feed for the petting area. The safari park or adventure park on their own would certainly warrant a visit on their own merits, but with them both together, it’s a no brainer. The King has yet to make the journey to Scotland with us but when he does, we’ll be sure to pay another visit to theair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park! (Thank you A and S for taking us!!)

Here’s a link to the website in case you’re interested in planning a day there yourselves. If you do go, or you have already been, let me know how you found it!
